I found it hard to enter into what happened in the Church as of recently. There were a lot of people asking me how I felt, but mostly from my Catholic influence bubble. No one outside of the church was asking me about it.
I took an opportunity to make this for a printmaking class critique, to put the scandal on display. It felt shameful. I kept wanting to defend the public church, but it felt unnecessary.
The piece is a reflection on the uncomfortable process of throwing up, how our bodies will expel harmful substances. And how Christ chooses to spit out the lukewarm. The image is made with ephemeral glue and ink that will eventually fall apart and fade away.
